Submit a Tip

Help shine a light on local government issues in small-town Texas.

What kinds of information are useful

The best tips include documentation. Useful materials include:

  • City council agendas, minutes, and meeting packets
  • Contracts, invoices, or financial records
  • Public records obtained through open records requests
  • Dates, names, and descriptions of specific incidents
  • Screenshots of official communications or social media posts

Even if you only have a rumor or a date, send it. I can research further from there.

How to submit

Online Tip Form

The quickest way to send information. You can include file attachments.

Open Tip Form (opens in new tab)

Email

Send tips directly to [email protected]. You can attach documents and remain anonymous.

How your tip is handled

Every tip is reviewed personally. I assess what you send, cross-reference it against public records, and determine whether there is enough to pursue further reporting. I may file open records requests, attend meetings, or conduct interviews based on what you provide.

Not every tip leads to a published article, but every tip is taken seriously. Information that does not lead directly to a story may still help build context for future reporting.

Confidentiality

I take source protection seriously. I will never reveal a confidential source without explicit permission. If you request anonymity, your identity will not appear in any published work. If I cannot verify information independently, I will not publish it. Your tip may lead to a public records request or other reporting, but your name stays out of it.

What happens next

After you submit a tip, I will review it within a few days. If I need clarification, I will reach out through whatever contact method you provide. If you submit anonymously and I need more details, I may not be able to follow up.
